Thank you for your interest in applying to the Upstate Individual Artists Fellowship! Please submit your application in the portal linked above. We estimate this application will take you roughly 2-5 hours to complete.

Before applying, please consider which award tier best represents your artistic practice at this stage: Emerging, Established, or Legacy. You will only be able to submit to, and be reviewed for, one tier.

This application will require the following:

  • Your contact information

  • Information about your artistic process

  • Work samples (multiple mediums are accepted)

  • Your resume or CV

  • Letters of support or testimonial

Out of an abundance of caution, we recommend that you work on your application in a Google Doc or Word document to avoid any technical glitches or session timeouts that can lead to lost work. You can use this Google Doc Template which contains all the questions you will find within the application portal itself. There is also a Spanish translation of the application questions available here.

In order to use the template (which is purposely shared as view only) you can either click on:

  • File > “Make a Copy” to create a version that you can edit within your own Google Drive account

  • File > “Download as” > “Word” to save a copy on your desktop which you can edit

All applications must be submitted through the application portal, Jotform, by: Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 11:59 PM Pacific Standard Time

Applications must be submitted electronically through our online application portal, Jotform. Please create your profile well in advance to mitigate any technology challenges. There is an option within Jotform to save your progress and allow you to continue making edits until you submit your application. Please ensure to click the “continue” button once you complete the final page and are ready to submit.

Hard copies, emailed applications, or dropped-off materials will not be accepted. Late submissions will not be accepted. All submissions are final. Only one application per person may be submitted.

Large print materials are available upon request. If you have any questions about the fellowship and/or application process, please email us at info@upstateIAF.org.
